Having no distractions while you eat is the ideal situation. You give your brain a chance to process and think, you probably eat a sensible amount, and it provides a reference point in your day. It's quite a challenge though. It's so easy to slide into watching series, so hard to turn everything off.
I've developed a habit of eating in different places around the house whenever I want to be aware of my meal time - on the sofa, on the table, in the bath. Forcing myself to do something different helps me break my habits and allow a new experience of eating alone.
